I had the most amazing trip and photoshoot at Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. This property is part of a handful of collective Ritz properties called “Reserves” designed for the elevated luxury experience. I stayed at another Reserve on my honeymoon in Bali called Mandapa and just like Mandapa, Dorado delivers on all fronts. The rooms, food and service were fantastic but perhaps the most exquisite feature is the spa. The spa is ranked as one of the only diamond forbes spas in the Caribbean and it transported me to another world. I had an evening massage at sunset in a treehouse and bathed in the healing ponds. Its no surprise that this property is loved by the fashion elite and celebrities worldwide. Below are the shots from my photoshoot. Wendy Bannerman from North42.com styled the entire shoot and it was shot by local photographer Jose Ruiz Photography.
Jumby, a secluded private island in Antigua marks one of my favourite hotels in the Caribbean. Its luxurious, relaxed, and feels like a secluded private island in the middle of the Indian Ocean without ever leaving the Caribbean. This place is all about lazing around in a hammock reading all day.
Jumby has that friendly, laid back and yet perfect service that reminds you of being at our own private vacation home. The staff learn your names, your preferences and magically appear with a glass of rose just as you might think you needed one. The resort itself is a series of cottages and villas laid out across the island and accessible via bikes and golf carts. Its colonial island elegance true to Antigua’s regal style. The resort has a restful and quiet vibe making it perfect for a Honeymoon, Babymoon or a necessary reset. If you’re looking for something a little livelier head to St. Barts as Jumby is all about slower days, delicious food and plenty of sleep. When I visited, I stayed in the bedroom cottage with a pool and it was the perfect spacious and private oasis, complete with a bubble bath in your garden. I mean is there anything more divine than having a bubble bath outdoors under the stars? I think not!
Villa Stark is hands down my favourite villa in the world. With ten master bedrooms perched above the Atlantic Ocean this is my go-to villa when I am looking for unparalleled luxury. The property is comprised of the main villa on the hill (with the dreamiest master bedroom you have ever laid eyes on), an oceanfront villa on the water and a guest house. All in all it sleeps around 20. For this reason we love to visit the villa with our friends and all the kids. While I love the island, I just never want to leave this place and rarely do. We boat off the dock, suntan on the private beach and have the most incredible dinners on the patios. With a full time butler, chef, and villa manager anything you could possibly need is at your fingertips. Here is a few pictures of my most recent trip, but I post all the time about this special slice of 10 star heaven.
On a wintery weekend in Toronto the Ocean Club is the perfect luxury beach getaway. I have many friends who live on the island so this hotel is filled with wonderful memories for me. The first time I visted the Ocean Club my fantasy of being a Bond Girl came to life, as this romantic and lush oasis is the hotel where Casino Royale was filmed. There is something uniquely special about this little slice of paradise and it really does feel luxurious and relaxed. Dinners are easily arranged at the nearby Atlantis or on the larger island, I myself usually spend my days at the Ocean Club and head to Atlantis for dinner as they have some great restaurants like Nobu but my all time favourite is the The Ocean Club’s main restaurant Dune.
This hotel never feels over crowded and the staff to guest ratio is great. It has two main pools, one set in the gorgeous and tropical gardens, and a second infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The beach is perfect for afternoon strolls and the spa is small but wonderful. All in all this whole property feels intimate and quiet.
I recommend for everyone and anyone needing some pampering. The bonus of the OC is it allows you access to the larger Atlantis resort if days spent sipping rose and using indoor voices is too calm for you. My tip is to stay in the renovated side of the hotel as the rooms are vastly better than the older wing.
Hotel Raphael is all the things you dream a French hotel would be, luxe, historic, wrapped in red velvet and very quaint. The charming ambiance and beautiful suites mark this as a favourite among French fashion elite, who call this home during fashion week. Christian Louboutin says this is his favourite hotel in Paris and as soon as I walked in I could understand why. Upon arriving in the hotel I was offered a seat in a plush lounge and greeted with an espresso and a gorgeous treat while I waited for my suite. The suites are spacious and stately, featuring huge french windows that look out over the 16th arrondissement and have everything you expect from classic French luxury – including antique desks and art. Perhaps my favoruite feature of this hotel is the La Terrase Bar, the terrace bar on the roof of the hotel. The roof bar features incredible panoramic views of Paris with a chic and swanky atmosphere, making this the perfect spot to watch the Eiffel Tower light up at night with a glass of Perrie-Jouet Rose (my favourite champagne) in your hand.
